Purpose
The monograph fellowships are one-year full-time fellowships for leading, visionary researchers within the humanities or social sciences, or within interdisciplinary fields that may branch into the natural sciences, undertaking a project aimed at producing a ground-breaking monograph.
Who?
Monograph fellowships are only awarded to tenured senior researchers employed at a Danish research institution with 5-20 years of past tenure as an associate professor, senior researcher or professor.
The exact date on which the applicant took up their first tenured position, irrespective of the country, must be clearly stated in the CV. The Carlsberg Foundation reserves the right to request additional documentation.
Any periods of leave will be accepted as extensions of this time limit (parental leave, family care leave, illness, military service, etc.).
It is not possible to receive a monograph fellowship twice.
What?
The Carlsberg Foundation covers the fellow’s full salary plus operating expenses of DKK 8,000 per month.
Operating expenses are at the grant holder’s disposal to cover conferences, study trips, etc., and cannot be used to cover overhead costs and administration fees.
Monograph fellows cannot at the same time carry out teaching or administrative duties. Ongoing light administration and limited supervision of PhD students or master’s students that monograph fellows themselves wish to continue is, however, acceptable.
