Grant guidelines Internalisation fellowships - Applicable to grants received before 2025

The grant period is outlined in the grant letter or in a later approval. 

The Carlsberg Foundation must approve any change in the grant period.

A request for change in the grant period must be submitted via the Carlsberg Foundation application and grant system (CF-Grant), no later than one month before the start/end of the grant period.

A request for disbursement must be submitted via the Carlsberg Foundation application and grant system (CF-Grant).

The grant will be reported to the Danish Customs and Tax Administration (SKAT) with reference to the grant holder’s CPR number. 

The grant should be administered by the grant holder.

If the Ph.D. degree was not obtained at the time of application deadline, a copy of the final Ph.D. assessment must be submitted before the start of the project. 

To submit the assessment, the grant holder must create a message with the attached file in the Carlsberg Foundation application and grant system (CF-Grant). 

If the grant holder obtains additional funding during the grant period, the Carlsberg Foundation must be informed with details of any potential overlap.

If the academic position of the grant holder changes during the grant period, the Carlsberg Foundation must be informed.

The Carlsberg Foundation covers parental leave of up to 32 weeks for mothers and up to 15 weeks for fathers/co-mothers. 

LGBT+ families can share portions of transferrable leave (up to 13 weeks) with social parents. 

A request for an extension of the grant period due to parental leave will automatically give rise to a supplementary grant to the existing grant with an amount corresponding to the extension.

The Carlsberg Foundation covers sick leave exceeding 30 days. A request for an extension of the grant period due to sick leave will automatically give rise to a supplementary grant to the existing grant with an amount corresponding to the extension.

In interviews with journalists and contact with the media about your research, we encourage you to state that your research is funded by the Carlsberg Foundation. Furthermore, it should preferably be clearly stated in all peer-reviewed publications, conference proceedings, monographs etc. that your research is funded by the foundation. 

This is done by adding the following statement to the Acknowledgments: “The work presented here is supported by the Carlsberg Foundation, grant CF00-0000”.

Any invention or utility model produced by employees as a result of work on a project financed by the Carlsberg Foundation must be handled by the host institution according to their internal guidelines.

The Carlsberg Foundation does not take ownership of or require any rights to Intellectual Property resulting from activities supported by the grant.

The Carlsberg Foundation has endorsed the Open Access policy for public sector research funds and foundations. Research supported by the foundation is therefore required to follow this Code.

The Carlsberg Foundation has endorsed the Danish Code of Conduct for Research Integrity. Research supported by the foundation is therefore required to follow this Code.

All recipients of research grants from the Carlsberg Foundation must comply with international and national rules on animal welfare, such as Denmark’s regulation on animal experiments, the Danish Animal Experiment Inspectorate and the Consolidated Act on Animal Experiments. 

As a minimum, Danish regulations must also be complied with when experiments financed by the foundation are conducted abroad.

A scientific report must be submitted no later than three months after the termination of the grant period. The report must be submitted via the Carlsberg Foundation application and grant system (CF-Grant) using the Carlsberg Foundation reporting template.

The grant will terminate when the Carlsberg Foundation has approved the reporting.

If a grant holder does not follow the reporting guidelines, the Carlsberg Foundation has the right to demand the grant either partly or fully repaid.
