Summary
Outbreaks of animal disease may have devastating effects on entire societies - as is currently seen in China because of African Swine Fever. The question is how to prevent and control such events. The 4th International Conference on Animal Health Surveillance (ICAHS4) will be held 12-14 May 2020 in Copenhagen, Denmark. Between 200 and 300 participants will attend, representing authorities, researchers, veterinarians and other stakeholders from all over the world. ICAHS4 is a truly unique event creating a forum for the interface between science, food production and policy. The key to effective surveillance and prevention is to bring together scientists, food production representatives and policy makers to understand what is needed and how it can be done with benefits for everyone.
