Summary
The project explores how radical Pietism influenced individual lives and public spheres in Germany, Denmark and Norway, 1680-1800. The aim is to deepen our understanding of the social dynamics imbedded in religious revival and radicalization. This field trip will enable me to visit archives and libraries in Berlin and Halle, and to participate in research environments, which is at the forefront in this field. The project addresses one of the grand challenges of contemporary societies: how to understand the rise of religious radicalism. It seeks to develop a new framework for research into religious dissent as a historical and contemporary phenomenon.
