Summary

This project explores the recruitment of school teachers in Greenland. The central research question is: What are the similarities and differences between the motivational bases for recruitment as well as de-recruitment to the educational sector on the West and East coast of Greenland? The wider discussion is if there are particular motivational forms, which hold a potential for mitigating some of the problems the educational sector in Greenland is facing. Recruitment of teachers is a salient societal problem in Greenland. For years the country has struggled to address and do away with a competence-gap which stifles the labor market. Hence, there is a clear understanding in Greenland that the country needs to develop and improve its educational system in order to address its competence gap.
