Summary

It is well established that the functions of many proteins are influenced by post-translational modifications generated either intentionally through controlled enzymatic processes, or accidentally through chemical reactions with oxidants and environmental agents. However, there are large gaps in our understanding of how modifications impact on protein structures, and therefore there is a strong need to develop novel workflows for detailed analysis of modified proteins. This mass spectrometry toolbox will enable us to perform highly sensitive and accurate analysis of oxidative protein modifications in a range of ongoing projects in biology and biochemistry.
