Summary
In June 2020 the Geological Museum in Copenhagen will be the venue for the closing meeting of UNESCO’s International Geoscience Programme (IGCP) ”Project 653: The onset of the Great Ordovician Biodiversification Event (GOBE)”. The GOBE represents the greatest rise in metazoan biodiversity in all of Earth history. Project 653 is a global community of ~250 geoscientists, working towards the common goal of documenting and unravelling the potential drivers instigating this fascinating event some 470 million years ago. The conference, entitled ‘GOBEnhagen 2020’, is to be hosted jointly by the geoscience institutions at the University of Copenhagen and GEUS, and the grant from the Carlsberg Foundation enables us to invite world-renowned researchers to present keynotes at the conference.
