Summary

Transmembrane transport proteins constitute a ubiquitous family of membrane proteins that serves the life-crucial tasks in all organisms of transporting solutes (e.g. nutrients, toxins, ions, drugs and neurotransmitters) in and out of the cell. Several hundred transporters are present in the human genome regulating a myriad of different physiological functions, to ensure and sustain cell survival. Moreover, numerous transporters constitute essential targets for drugs including antidiabetics, antidepressants, antiepileptics, diuretics and drugs of abuse. The conference will broadly cover the most recent developments in the field of transmembrane transporters from molecular and cellular studies to physiological and pathophysiological investigations.
