Summary

This grant will support the establishment of an instrument facility for automated microwave assisted chemical synthesis and isolation. A major advantage of the facility is that it will allow us to produce peptides much more labour-efficient, with less material (chemicals) and in a much safer manner than the present manual synthesis and isolation. The facility will also allow synthesis of long peptides which we in practise are not able to do today. Access to long peptides is pivotal for our research on elucidating the molecular mechanisms behind diseases, generating novel protein-drug conjugates as potential anticancer drugs, and developing catalytic peptides as micro enzymes.
