Summary

Cells display different properties even within the same population. Gaining insight into these unique attributes at single-cell level allows for greater understanding of general cell behavior, initiation and progression of disease and the development of more effective treatment strategies. To study the above, a fluidic force microscope is the unique microscope, which uses channel cantilevers for simultaneously probing the surface of the cell with forces but also for allowing cargo injection and subsequent retrieval of cell content for analysis. We will perform single cell manipulation and analysis with the aim of developing effective multifunctional drugs, understanding the development of for instance neurodegenerative diseases and redirecting cellular processes in a renewable approach.
