Summary
Virtual reality (VR) lets users explore computer-generated worlds by wearing head-mounted displays and moving their bodies. For VR to be successful, users must experience a sense of "being there", so-called presence. However, presence remains difficult to study because it requires precise tracking of users' movement in the real world and because multi-user setups are difficult to create. We will establish Presence Lab, which allows the motion of multiple users to be tracked with low latency and high accuracy. Thereby, movements in the real and virtual worlds will be perfectly synchronized across users.
