Summary

The research stay at the University of Cambridge aims to deliver a book manuscript currently under the consideration of the Cambridge University Press. The manuscript advances an original theoretical approach with comparative, empirical cases across the globe to enrich the understanding of information communication technology (ICT) uses in contentious politics. The approach dissects different affordances, understood as action possibilities, of ICT that underpin its subsequent use(s) as contentious repertoire, namely the practice and performance of protest. In doing so, the project significantly contributes to a new theoretical model for addressing the relationality of the social and material aspects in the appropriation and use of ICT in contentious events.
