Summary
For 25 years(1948-1973), a number of psychological researchers, led by Barker & Wright, observed the behaviour of people in the small town 'Midwest' in Kansas. This extensive examination of the behaviour of people and the places in which they lived offers us some of the deepest insights into the relationship between behaviour and the environment available to psychological science. And it has helped us conceptualize the extensive meaning of the concrete everyday-life-environments in which we live. In this conference we aim to critically explore how the insights arising from the work of Barker & Wright can be applied to contemporary psychological research and how it may help us in deepening – and further developing – our comprehension of the reciprocity of humans and their environments.
