Summary

Social scientists have gathered evidence of ethnic discrimination across many spheres of Danish society. But according to surveys, every third Dane thinks it is bad to have a law against ethnic discrimination in the workplace - although equal treatment is guaranteed by the Danish constitution. Do equal treatment policies find little support because Danes are not aware of the extent of ethnic discrimination in their society? To answer this question, this project will conduct a study among a representative sample of the Danish population. The study will first elicit respondents' misperceptions of the extent of ethnic discrimination in Denmark. Thereafter it will investigate whether correcting these misperceptions increases support for equal treatment policies.
