Summary

The grant will be essential for our research which focuses on: 1. Investigation of the factors causing DNA circularization with yeast as a model organism. 2. Completing an Atlas of the tissue-specific composition of circular DNA in mammalian development and ageing using mouse as a model organism. 3. The detection of circular DNA in humans disease: - In pancreatic, lung and colorectal cancers which have large unmet needs for circular DNA methylation profiling, and detection of circular DNA copy number variations. - In neurodegenerative disorders such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, since our preliminary studies suggest a role of circular DNA in these diseases. 4. New and more efficient methods for isolation and mapping of circular DNA. 5. Chromosomal evolution in yeast and mammals.
