Summary

RNA sequencing, epigenomics, proteomics and metabolomics have the capacity to provide clear pictures of cellular behaviors and phenotypic identities in a dynamic and closely correlated manner. For all of these platforms efficient cell lysis is the required first step, which when successful allows the undamaged contents of the cell (proteins, nucleic acids, other molecules) to escape through the damaged cell membrane and be used for further study. The current infrastructure funding is for a multi-sample 2nd generation cell lysis, DNA and chromatin shearing system. The equipment will efficiently allow us to lyse multiple cell types and hence increase the capacity and turnover time of our mass spectrometry platform at Aarhus University and our planned epigenetic studies.
