Summary

Very high levels of unemployment are a real and persistent problem in South Africa, as well as many other developing nations. Whilst, at the same time, the academic literature on employability pays very little attention to the interdependence between employers and employees, as well as there being very few inter-temporal studies exploring the experiences of employers and employees beyond the initial phase of transitioning from unemployment into employment. This project aims to make a positive and significant contribution on both of those fronts. The project utilizes the considerable employability support infrastructure of Siya Sebenza, including this proposed new employer employee interface, as a means to improve both the quality and quantity of employability research.
