Summary

Biological systems are extremely complex and their understanding requires the combined study of numerous individual aspects. Modern advances in technology allow the development of high-throughput assays to test a wide range of parameters simultaneously and address very complex research questions. Many of these assays are performed in small volumes on plates that can contain thousands of samples and can be analysed with so-called plate readers. This project aims at establishing plate-reader-based high-throughput methods to advance research in microbiology, biochemistry, and cell biology. The equipment will allow several research groups to study complex systems at the organismal, cellular and protein levels, and generate basic knowledge to support future advances in biotechnology.
