Summary
Municipalities, researchers, and civic society across the world have turned to technology-based methods to gain knowledge about cities and buildings. From AI simulations of traffic congestion, indoor climate sensors, mapping movement of people via heat cameras, to Do-It-Yourself particle pollution monitoring by grassroot groups, technologies have an increasing role in understanding the city. The Urban Tech Lab at Roskilde University addresses these issues in a cross-disciplinary collaboration between anthropology, psychology, and geography. It explores human experience of urban places by combining quantitative and qualitative methods generated through technologies to create insights on the sensory, physical, and emotional influences of the environment on people.
