Summary

"My laboratory focus on arterial contractions, which are highly dependent on changes in intracellular calcium. This equipment will allow us to visualise real time changes in intracellular calcium within the muscle cells of the arterial wall, while the artery is maintained with tension under physiological conditions. By monitoring these changes in real time we will elucidate physiological and pathophysiological mechanisms controlling blood flow and blood pressure, including how these mechanisms change in hypertension.
