Computer storage for groundbreaking biological research using high-throughput data

The Bioinformatics Center at the University of Copenhagen is a leading research institution for analyses involving large biological data sets, such as complete genomes from humans, animals and plants. With the support from the Carlsberg Foundation, we can fund crucial data storage infrastructure that allows us to process such large data sets. The grant covers two Isilon storage nodes, state-of-the-art data storage facilities. With this, we will be able to continue our world-leading research into e.g. modern and ancient human genomes, maps of regulatory regions across all human and mouse cell types, mechanisms of chromatin inheritance during DNA replication, comprehensive sequencing of wild ruminant genomes and the relation between transcription initiation and RNA degradation.
