Summary

Studies of health consequences of exposure to endocrine disrupting chemicals has long struggled methodologically with determining the so-called cocktail-effects. This carries the risk of underestimating the true health risk as individual substances in small amounts rarely poses a risk but can do so in interaction with other substances. In this project, we apply novel statistical methods to a world-unique birth cohort, with the aim of determining the long-term health consequences of simultaneous exposure to a variety of endocrine disruptors in the fetus. The scientific progress generated in the project will enable inclusion of combination effects in legislation with the overall aim of protecting pregnant women, their future children, and the general public.
