Contextualising Apulian Red-Figure Pottery

Research in Apulian red-figure pottery has developed in many different directions within the last 20 years through excavations and new scientific methodologies. This research provides very important knowledge to reconsider vases in museums without information about their archaeological context. The conference will assemble the leading scholars to discuss ways to contextualise Apulian red-figure vases through the object and collecting histories, new excavations and the application of new technologies. The conference explores the contextualisation from the archaeological site to the publication and digitalisation and reconsiders the impact on the understanding of the role of Apulian red-figure pottery in the ancient societies in which they were produced and used.
