Summary

Two-dimensional (2D) materials have attracted increasing attention from the research community due to their unique electrical and optical properties, ranging from valley-spin coupling to the indirect-to-direct band gap transition from the multi-layer to the monolayer. Investigating optoelectronic devices based on 2D materials and their heterostructures is a very important area with fundamental and applied aspects. The Scanning Photocurrent Microscopy (SPM) tool funded by the Carlberg Foundation will allow us to investigate the spatially resolved optoelectronic properties of nanostructures with submicron resolution and as a function of the polarization of light and understand how nanostructures generate current under extreme conditions.
