Summary
The project will be addressing discourse power (huayuquan) in international law and relations. While China has came to realize that China would need to be a "norm maker" instead of "norm taker". The normative aspiration of China was shaped by China's history and culture, and its own political and legal systems, as well as understanding of its role in international relations. It will inevitably pose challenges to the current dominant discourse by western states. It is vital to provide a comprehensive perspective of legal and practical consequences of China's intention to reshape the international order with its preferences. Importantly, the project will be analysing the concepts of justice with the aims of providing a comparision between Chinese and European ideas of Justices.
