Summary

NMR spectroscopy is powerful characterization technique, that provides essential information about the structure and dynamics on the atomic level of even amorphous and/or disordered systems. Today most studies of multi-phase systems, e.g., soils, reaction mixtures require fractionation prior to liquid OR solid-state NMR studies. This fractionation alters the sample properties and may lead to erroneous conclusions about, e.g., pollutant binding and structure of functional materials. The grant will cover acquisition of an MAS NMR probe that allow for studies of multi-phase samples under variable temperature and pressure. We will use this equipment to study materials formation, characterize environmental samples and chemical reactions under realistic conditions.
