Summary

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, 29,000 Ukrainians have been given a temporary residence permit in Denmark. Individuals fleeing war have often been exposed to trauma, and in combination with post-migration living difficulties and challenges of cultural adaptation, this increases their risk of mental health problems. However, there is close to no knowledge on the prevalence and consequences of traumatic exposures in newly-arrived refugees. In the current project, we will collect data on traumatic experiences and livings condictions for Ukrainians who have arrived in Denmark since the war. We will follow these individuals over time, and doing so, we will be able to understand and eventually predict mental health problems that might arise in newly-arrived refugees.
