Summary

CONFLICT: Archives, Collections and Heritage is a one-day workshop at the University of Copenhagen which examines the theme of cultural heritage, archives and museum collections in conflict and post-conflict times in Asia, shedding light on Cambodia’s decades of civil war and Khmer Rouge dictatorship in the 1970-80s. Through a hybrid format, this event provides an opportunity for networking and interdisciplinary discussions intersecting the fields of Asian studies, museum studies, art history, archeology, and conservation. In conjunction with an exhibition on surviving Cambodian textile practices, this workshop fosters a critical dialogue between scholars and artists. It contributes to debates on decolonising museums and archives, looted art, and the role of art in post-war recovery.
