Summary
The project aims at analyzing the disagreements about American foreign policy. Irrespective of the position, it will have serious consequences for European security. Among the supporters of Joe Biden, one group argues maintaining the transatlantic alliance is the most important goal whereas another group argues that US national interests lie in Asia and in countering China. A third position joins the nationalist 'America First' arguments of Donald Trump. It is the aim of the project to assess the strength and the political backing of these different positions. It is done via interviews with analystis, decision-makers and researchers in Washington DC. The outcome will be a much clearer picture of the future direction of American foreign policy.
