Summary
In recent year, the works and ideas of the Danish modern architect Kay Fisker (1893–1965) has gained increasing international recognition. This includes his built work, in particular his subdued large-scale housing estates such as Hornbækhus (1920–22) and Vestersøhus (1935–39) and his public buildings for education and healthcare relating to the establishment of the Danish welfare state such as the Aarhus University (1931–46). This symposium gathers international researchers who are exploring and examining Fisker’s works and ideas through interpretive, analytical, critical, and didactic takes. The aim is to discuss the state of the art of these activities and their results and to create an international platform which will support future research into Fisker’s architecture.
