Summary

Ice ages have dominated the climate of the past millions of years. Around a million years ago, the pattern changed from short/smaller to longer/larger ice ages. The reasons for this shift, the so-called Mid-Pleistocene Transition, are not well understood. The outcome of the trip is research into the dynamics of the MPT using data from two ice cores reaching more than a million years back in time.
