Implications of Automation Technologies

This project will assess the implications of firms’ automation in terms of both domestic employment and offshoring decisions. One the one hand automation technologies are increasingly capable of substituting for both domestic and offshored labor. On the other hand, they may represent a way to increase domestic firms’ productivity and to bring offshored jobs back to the domestic economy.
