Summary

For the Lutheran Reformers, Luther and Melanchthon, the aim for theology was consolation of the anxious soul. After 1528, the care of doctrine became important for both. Reading lesser-known German sources by Melanchthon, this project will revise the understanding of their internal relationship and give new insight in how the consolatory revolution in Wittenberg impacted on doctrine and society.
