What?

The Green Transition Policy Centre (GreenTraC) will help us understand the role that policy can play in addressing the complexity and requirement of speed that characterise the advanced phase of the energy transition. We will identify the factors that influence the characteristics of green transition policy, but also analyse the effects of the policy on transition processes.

Why?

Policy practice is changing rapidly, moving from a focus on product and process innovations to a focus on stimulating radical changes toward sustainability. However, the scientific evidence base has not kept up with the rapid uptake in practice of approaches such as mission-oriented innovation policy. GreenTraC addresses this gap and aims to develop a consolidated theory of green transition policy.

How?

GreenTraC brings together scholars from the fields of sustainability transitions, innovation studies, political science, applied data science and evaluation studies. We combine in-depth comparative case studies with data science techniques to understand the role of green transition policies in agriculture and food production, energy-intensive industries and maritime transport.
