Summary
Mutations in the calcium binding protein Calmodulin are associated with sudden cardiac death in children. Using Phenylalanine and Tyrosine fluorescence spectroscopy we can map the mutation impact on calcium binding. This insight may provide the foundation for being able to predict the risk for sudden death and severe cardiac arrhythmia for novel calmodulin mutations identified in the future.
