Summary

Tiny microbes living in the air, and on water surfaces are responsible for controlling cloud formation, especially in the Arctic, but this is very poorly understood. It is not even clear where these important microbes live. Our study seeks to discover new habitat for them in brine skim and ice crystals that occur where sea ice is forming, helping explain cloud formation in the Arctic.
