Private arms are regulated in Europe today. Popular assumptions on both sides of the Atlantic assume that America and Europe as counterparts. But how did the difference arise? This book examines the history of weapons law in Western Europe for the first time. It shows that European weapons control is a product of democracy, created to protect democracy during the years between the world wars.
