What?

'Joining in black study' is a self-developed methodology that takes seriously co-creation of knowledge on lived experiences and study practices of black youth in the Nordics and across Europe. With this project I aim to map out black study practices as an emerging field of knowledge production that combines creative, activist and collaborative methods.

Why?

Black Europeans create knowledge and critical analyses of European structural racism and anti-blackness. However this knowledge is rarely acknowledged, cited and supported institutionally. This project creates space for collaborative theorizing and collective reflection across borders as well as institutional boundaries.

How?

All aspects of the project will exemplify the practice of “joining in black study”, by delivering two collaborative ‘black study’ seminars, a podcast, and a special issue. The two seminars, one in the Netherlands and one in Scandinavia, will gather ten black study practitioners (artists, activists). The collaborative knowledge will be shared as a podcast and later in a special issue.
