Constructing China as an Emigration State

My research project is based on fieldwork in southern China in spring of 2025. The goal is to collect documents and conduct interviews in three Chinese emigration localities. Supported by Jinan University and Xiamen University, my study examines how China engages with its global diasporas by analysing national and local policies, and cultural constructions to understand the dynamics of emigration.
