Summary
Farmland abandonment is a widespread land-use change process in Europe with mixed implications for the environment and societal well-being. This project aims to synthesize how abandoned landscapes evolve and develop a mid-range farmland abandonment theory through fieldwork, literature review, case studies and work with experts. Research stays at key institutions and field trips will support this.
