Scientists and professional communicators are now invited to apply for funding for research and science communication. The funding is being offered through the Science Communication instrument, intended for professional communicators, and Carlsberg Mindelegat, intended for researchers with an affiliation to a Danish research institution.

The Carlsberg Foundation wants to stimulate the dissemination and awareness of science and its importance in Denmark. Twice a year, the foundation is therefore calling for applications for funding for - science communication through the Science Communication instrument and Carlsberg Mindelegat.

Currently, we are calling for applications to both pools with an application deadline of 1 September 2024.

While the funds in Carlsberg Mindelegat are intended to support scientists’ opportunities to communicate their own research, the Science Communication instrument is aimed at professional communicators who have documented experience of designing and executing major communication projects.

About Science Communication

Under the Science Communication instrument, applicants can apply for up to DKK 3 million for communication of basic research within the natural sciences, social sciences and humanities, and science with a broad social appeal. The communication activities may be independently defined or form part of a larger research project, and the principal communication must be freely accessible to all interested parties.

Applications may be made for funding for various types of communication format, including TV and radio productions, podcasts, new science journalism initiatives, festivals, lectures, publications and SoMe productions.

Applicants must have documented professional experience of communication. It is also a requirement that the project should involve collaboration with researchers who either directly contribute to the communication or quality-assure the finished production.

About Carlsberg Mindelegat

The Carlsberg Mindelegat instrument is open to applications from researchers for the communication of their own research intended for non-scientific audiences. Applications may be made for up to DKK 200,000, and the communication may be independently defined or part of a larger project. The formats can include TV and radio productions, podcasts, written productions, lectures, publications etc.

Applicants must as a minimum have a PhD and be affiliated to a Danish research institution in order to be eligible. It is also a requirement that the project should involve collaboration with professional communicators with documented experience of e.g. journalism or media production.

The content that is produced must as a starting point be freely accessible to all interested parties.
