Professional communicators and researchers can now apply for funding for communication activities through the Science Communication instrument and Carlsberg Mindelegat. Through its calls for applications, the Carlsberg Foundation aims to contribute to the dissemination of research and its results to all interested Danes. The deadline for submission of applications is 4.00 p.m. CET on 1 March 2025.

Twice a year the Carlsberg Foundation issues calls for applications for funding through the Science Communication instrument and Carlsberg Mindelegat. The purpose of the calls is to promote collaboration between professional communicators and researchers, and to qualify the public conversation and debate around research and science.

While the Science Communication instrument is aimed at professional communicators with documented experience of executing major communication programmes, Carlsberg Mindelegat is intended for researchers wishing to communicate their own activities to a broad public. The deadline for submission of Science Communication and Carlsberg Mindelegat applications is 4.00 p.m. CET on 1 March 2025.

We will be explaining the application process and criteria for the two calls at a webinar, which will take place at 1.00 p.m. CET on Wednesday 15 January. The webinar will be conducted in English.

About the Science Communication instrument

Within the framework of the Science Communication instrument, applicants can apply for up to DKK 3 million for activities that communicate basic research within the natural sciences, social sciences and humanities that has a broad social appeal. The communication activities can be independently defined or form part of a larger communication programme, and the principal communication should be easily accessible by all interested persons free of charge.

Funding may be sought for various types of communication format, for example TV and radio productions, podcasts, festivals, lectures, publications and SoMe productions.

Applicants must have documented experience of professional communication. Furthermore, it is a requirement that the project should involve collaboration with researchers who either directly contribute to the communication or quality-assure the finished production.

About Carlsberg Mindelegat

Carlsberg Mindelegat is open to applications from researchers at Danish universities and research institutions for the communication of their own research to non-scientific target groups. Applicants may apply for up to DKK 200,000, and the communication can be independently defined or form part of a larger programme. Potential formats include TV and radio productions, podcasts, written productions, lectures and publications.

In order to be considered for funding, applicants must as a minimum have a PhD and be affiliated to a Danish research institution. It is also a requirement that the project should involve collaboration with experts with documented experience of communication, journalism or media production.

The content produced must as a starting point be easily accessible by all interested parties free of charge.
