Operator Algebras, Dynamics and Groups

This grant will partially fund the ICM satellite conference "Operator Algebras, Dynamics and Groups" to be held at the University of Copenhagen, July 1-4, 2022. Operator algebras is a field of mathematics developed in the 1930s and 1940s to provide a mathematical frame of quantum physics. Today it comprises several areas of mathematics including analysis, geometry, group theory and dynamics. The conference will aim to feature and highlight the future directions of the most important current trends in operator algebras. The conference is an official satellite conference of the ICM (International Congress of Mathematician) in St Petersburg, 2022. The ICMs are held every 4 years and are the biggest events in mathematics. The Fields medals are awarded during the opening ceremony of the ICM.
