Resumé
Little is known about sharks in waters surrounding Denmark. Two of these species, the Greenland shark and the spiny dogfish, are considered vulnerable but not studied. Tracking technologies, like pop-up satellite archival telemetry (PSAT) or acoustic telemetry can provide us with never-before-known information about their biology and ecology. For example, telemetry may help us unravel migrations they undertake, the habitats they rely on, as well as if/when they are vulnerable. This project aims to deploy PSAT and acoustic tags on both species over the next 4 years to acquire this information. Tagged animals will then be detected on receivers arrays already in place in the Kattegat, Skagerrak, and North Sea, for up to 10 years.
