Resumé

Primary cilia are antenna-like structures of the surface of our cells that play important roles in mediating cell-cell communication during embryonic development and in the adult. The aim of this project is to determine the mechanisms by which specific receptors and other signaling molecules dynamically localize to the primary cilium, which is critical for controlling cilia-mediated cell-cell communication. The results will provide new information on how cells control dynamic localization of signaling proteins at the cilium, which is important from a fundamental science perspective, as well as for understanding the molecular basis of cilia-related diseases called ciliopathies.
