Resumé
For many years, Critical Citizenship Studies has shifted focus away from legal definitions of citizenship and towards "act of citizenship" from below, such as resistance by undocumented migrants creating new forms of belonging liberated by the constraints of the nation-state and tied together by solidarity. The condition for this paradigm shift was a world becoming more connected through globlization. However, events such as the crisis, pandemic, the Ukraine war, or climate change are challenging this condition. States are asserting themselves, as borders are re-errected and inter-state rivalries increase. The conference aims at bringing together scholars researching the many ways in which citizenship is being made, remade, or unmade in an ever-chaning and volatile world.
