Resumé

Methane, found in Arctic natural gas reservoirs, is trapped beneath permafrost and glaciers. If these icy shields melt, huge methane emissions may occur leading to more warming. Our expedition to the Nuussuaq Peninsula in Greenland, where these emissions occur, aims to study this unique methane source and its release, offering vital insights into its impact on our warming Arctic and atmosphere.
