Electrical activation and coordination of contraction in the hearts of mammalian species

We will investigate the extension of the conduction system, cell shape and the speed of signal conduction in hearts from various mammalian species to understand the evolution of the conductive system and the impact of body size. Our findings will provide new insights into evolution and the role of Purkinje fibers across species, which is important for veterinary medicine and biomedical sciences.
