Hvad?
The Center for Philosophy of Artificial Intelligence (CPAI) will push research horizons across a range of disciplines and create the conceptual and methodological foundations for artificial intelligence (AI) research that actively contributes to a fair and safe society, in which users have equal access to information and are treated more fairly.
Hvorfor?
AI has become an integral part of our everyday life. AI defines what information is available to us (e.g., Google’s Search, Apple’s Siri, Amazon’s Alexa), how our information is processed by companies and public institutions, including insurance companies and legal entities, as well as how we communicate with the rest of the world. However, with great powers comes great responsibility, and the widespread adaptation of AI has led to calls for responsible and trustworthy AI from both customers, regulators, and legal scholars, including fairness, transparency, and privacy.
Hvordan?
By bringing together some of the best computer scientists and philosophers in the world, CPAI wishes to leverage thousands of years of thinking about fairness, transparency, and privacy, to accelerate research in responsible AI, as well as contributing to this body of thinking by using AI as a litmus test for theories of fairness, transparency, and privacy.
